  1. 6 years ago

You would be kind enough to let me know about "Custom/Tickle" item.
I tried to help with the online help but I could not find it.

    thanks

It's a date field that you can use for anything you want. Maybe use it as a second review date or maybe a tentive date. Perhaps even as a payment date when you wish to invoice for this task.

    Relevant Help Page: https://bitespire.com/help/?Managing%20Tasks.html

It's your choice. It won't affect anything negatively if you don't use the field.

  3. If I understand, for each task it is of different importance.
How do I know what that date is for each task in particular?
Should there be a free text item or drop down category item showing the use of the date?

The custom tickle date is stored with each Task. You can then report on it using the Reports section or show it using the list grid. It has no calculative value other than "For Any Use".

  5. I understand, but I still think that a date without an explanation can not be used properly.
for example: If I open an old task, I will probably not remember the reason for the date, and that's because the date is "for any use" as you said. Do not forget that over time tasks will increase and it will be hard to remember why this particular date is there.

Anyway, thank you for your response.

I now understand your thought. Sorry, my bad.

I will add a way to edit the label of "Custom/Tickle" so you may edit your own text such as "Invoice Date", etc. This will be database wide and in the Settings and Preferences.

    Question:
    > Where are all the places the tickle date shows up?

    • You mentioned it can be displayed in the task list view, and it can be used in reports.
    • I also discovered that it shows up on tasks that appear on the home page.
    • Are there any other instances where the tickle date will appear -- or any other ways in which it can be used?

    Request:
    > Please add descriptive details about the tickle date and how it can be used into the documentation

    Thanks!

    Custom/tickle date can be seen:

    1. In the Settings, where you can assign a textual label to this date. By default, this is "Tickle Date" but you can call it what you wish, eg: "Schedule", or "My Zinger Date".
    2. Home page: In the Tasks tab you can set a filter based on the Custom Date.
    3. Tasks listing: This can be shown as a data column in the listing. Right-click the column header to access all columns that can be shown/hidden.
    4. Task Edit Window: Shown on the right side for you to fill in the data.
    5. Reports: Can be used as a Criteria Condition for filtering and as a Data Column for displaying. Can also be used to sort on.
    6. Calendar: In the Tasks tab you can set a custom filter based on the Custom Date in the same way as the Home page.

I will, indeed, improve the Help Docs. There are other sections in the docs that needs some tender loving care too. I need to get my writing head on though.

  9. Excellent! Thanks so much for such a thorough, detailed overview.

Very helpful for considering ways in which I might consider using this custom date.
