Installing Updates: Newbie Question

  1. 2 years ago

Just wanted to confirm how new updates should be installed.

May I assume it is sufficient simply to close doogiePIM and then initiate the current update?

In other words, will the new version automatically overwrite the current version, or do I need to UNinstall the current version before installing the new version?

Also, are there any potential complications I need to consider if I'm currently in the middle of my free trial?

    With my thanks in advance,

    1. Simply download the new installation version from the downloads page .
    2. It is best to shutdown any doogiePIM that is running, but the installation will detect it and attempt to close it for you.
    3. As always, do a doogiePIM backup before installing anything. It's just a wise thing to do.
    4. Run the downloaded installation file.

The installation will detect where you last installed it and update the files accordingly. Your databases and other files you created are not affected.

There are no other compilations in the evaluation version. In fact, you're running a full version except the licence days are limited to 30.

Oh and thank you for your wonderful comments on the blog entry. I do try. Sometimes I get it right, sometimes I don't.

  3. Perfect! Thanks so much for the good overview, Chris -- and the reminder to do a back-up. I backup quite frequently, but I might not have remembered to do it before installing the update.

    Many thanks -- again! :-)
