Please help me preserve my SSD...

  1. 2 months ago

How can I extend the life of my SSD? Well, the first thing I want to do is to cut down the number of writes to the drive. To that end, I would love to be able to store my DoogiePIM database(s) on a drive other than my C: drive, maybe on an NAS or on a separate (old-fashioned) spinning hard drive.

Is this possible? If not, is it likely?

Thanks kin advance, Chris - I'm a brand new user and I love the community.

Firstly. Welcome to the community. We hope your stay here is of a wonderful educational and productive experience.

Secondly. I've found a couple of articles on the Web that may be of interest to you:

The bottom line is... Always make a backup.

doogiePIM will quite happily read a database from almost any local accessible drive as long as it has a write capability. This discounts CD-ROMs. You can backup and store on a CD/DVD but to restore, you would copy it over to your HD/SSD.
